If You Suspect Abuse

Whether it’s your own child, a family member, or friend, the signs of abuse are often right in front of us. But it’s up to you to be that someone who does something about it.

If you suspect a child is being abused, call Childline at 1-800-932-0313. This Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare hotline is open 24/7, and the information you provide is sent to the local Office of Children and Youth to investigate.

In addition to calling Childline, if you need local intervention, call Erie County’s Office of Children and Youth at 814-451-6600. You can make an anonymous report if you prefer not to leave your name.

If the child is in immediate danger, call the local police using 911.
